Overheard when opening gifts at the Christmas gift give-away:
“Is this really for me?”
“These are probably the only gifts I will get for Christmas or my birthday”
“I’ve wanted this for so long!”
“Now I’m REALLY going to have a Merry Christmas!”
With the help of YOU, our community, we were able to pack up the biggest bag of gifts EVER for each of our youth.
In ADDITION, we had enough left over to set up a “store” where the youth could come and pick out gifts for their siblings, thus extending the impact of your generosity and blessing **entire families**.
To illustrate how amazing this is, let me tell you about a family connected to Why Not. There are six of them, packed into a small, two bedroom apartment. Two are teenagers and attend Why Not. We recently learned that one of the youth sleeps on the floor as there is not enough room for all the beds needed. We were able to use a cash donation to purchase a yoga mat to sleep on. New pillows were given, as well as fuzzy blankets. Due to the abundance of gifts, we were able to make sure the younger children also have some extra presents to brighten their Christmas morning.
In ADDITION-ADDITION, three of our families have been extra blessed by community members who are supplying a Christmas dinner.
We want to take a moment to thank each individual who contributed in some way to making this a memorable and merry Christmas. It couldn’t have come at a better time.
A big thanks to the businesses and organizations in our community who blew us away with your generosity. I sure hope we didn’t miss someone (the risk you take when you try to thank everyone…) If we did accidentally miss you, please let us know so we can add you to the list!
