Gift in Kind

Our Mission

To keep young families together by providing wrap-around supports from the start.

Pregnancy and parenting can be hard, especially when you don’t feel supported on your journey.

You want the very best for your child. We have the wrap-around supports that will ensure your success as a new parent. We can work with you to help you achieve your goals, both as a parent and for life!

Our Service

Maybe things weren’t great for you growing up. You want better for your child, but you know you’re going to need help and support to be the kind of parent you want to be.

That’s where we come in. Our supportive housing is designed to give you complete confidence knowing that you will be helped and equipped in becoming the best parent you can be.

Our staff is on site 24/7. Together, we will work on YOUR goals for parenting, life skills, wellness, education… just tell us what you need. We don’t want you to just come and live, we want you and your baby to THRIVE!

Our storage space is limited. Please contact us at 226-250-0107 or email shyp@whynotcitymissions.com if you would like to donate something.

So many of our donors and friends ask what our most-needed items are, so we have put together an Amazon Wishlist which we plan to update regularly! If you would like to donate one of these items to SHYP, please add the item to your cart, and click our registry address when you check out so the item can be sent directly to us. This is a wonderful way for us to receive needed items that we may not have the funds to purchase ourselves!

Until now, adolescent mothers from Brantford/Brant/Six nations who want to parent but truly need wrap-around housing support during pregnancy or early parenting have been directed out of town, a move most aren’t willing to make. Now, these young parents will be able to benefit from supportive housing geared toward equipping them to be the best parents they can be right here at home. Staying local, they can maintain connections with their existing supports including family, friends, their family doctor, Brantford area agencies, and others who will play an important role in the long term, ongoing success of the new family.
