Rotarians to the Rescue!

There is a group in this city that has deeply taken hold of the vision we have to support young people.

While the Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise have always shown support for local youth, something huge shifted a few years ago.

In 2016, something shifted, and this dynamic group of enthusiastic entrepreneurs, business people, and individuals of influence decided to begin investing in the teens at Why Not Youth Centre more than ever before.

First, this group took on the significant commitment of providing a warm, high-quality meal for all of the youth every single month. Not only do they cover the cost of this meal, but they come and serve it as well.

It was around this time that Why Not launched our “Facility Facelift Project” to upgrade and fix up our high-traffic, century-old facility.

Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise’s response was: “Send us your wish list!”

With the help of the the Rotary District Granting program, the Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise replaced all of the windows on the main floor of the youth centre. What a huge blessing!

When Why Not was able to increase usable space in the building by finishing the attic (with the help of a 100 Men Who Give a Damn sponsorship), the Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise furnished the entire thing.

These groups have shown such a commitment to helping our youth in practical, impactful ways.

Over the years, they have gathered gifts for the youth, packaged food, run food drives, walked in our winter walkathon (Coldest Night of the Year), and so much more.

For us at Why Not, knowing that the dynamic people who are part of the Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise have our backs, well it’s just a huge boost.

Changing the community starts with individuals and groups rising up to the opportunities in front of them in the same way that you can build a house if you only have enough bricks.

Thank you, Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise , for leading by example.
